Spurs Summer League: Grading every player to log minutes in Game 1
Dominick Barlow
Dominick Barlow may need to change his first name to "Dominate" after last night's display of force. Barlow showed he is to be taken seriously on both sides of the floor when his sneakers meet the hardwood. His performance was one fans will remember years down the line, as the Barlow game can not be understated. Turning in a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds, the 6'10 forward/center from the Overtime Elite showed a huge jump in his second year.
Whenever Barlow entered the game last season, he often looked lost and out of place. When Barlow started the game last night, he looked right at home as he forcefully denied entry to the Hornets. He ended the game with two blocks, but he impacted many more shots, turning away would-be scorers left and right. Barlow showed off his athleticism with blocks, rim running, and contests. He displayed a soft touch with an efficient midrange stroke while going 4-6 from the free throw line. If he keeps up his play, fans will demand the Spurs keep him on the roster. Deservedly so.
Grade: A+
