Reading the tea leaves for the San Antonio Spurs isn't the easiest thing in the world. There is a reason they are known as a world-class organization. They handle their business with the highest level of integrity possible and everyone who works for the franchise seems to understand the pertinence of that part of the culture. They are tight-lipped and professional in every sense of the word.

However, they cannot operate with complete autonomy if they want to get things done. At some point, they have to involve other teams, speak to prospects and communicate with agents. The new report raising antennas has to do with one of the more highly-touted prospects in an otherwise weak draft: Zaccharie Risacher.

Spurs may seriously be considering moving up

Risacher is pretty much solidified as a top-3 draft prospect in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. Most mock drafts have him listed as number two behind Alex Sarr, another French prospect. Some mock drafts have Risacher listed as the grand prize for the Atlanta Hawks or any team that would trade up for the opportunity to snag such a versatile prospect.

If the Spurs are scheduling a workout with a player like Zaccharie Risacher, it is an indication that there may be serious interest in moving up to select him at what would have to be the number one or number two spot.

It would be an aggressive move and a clear signal that San Antonio is indeed moving up their timeline. There are pieces that the Spurs could select without moving that project to do well in the league and contribute at a high level. They could stand pat and have a grade-A draft, but it looks like they may be striving for that A+. Fans love to see their team be aggressive. Winning is the ultimate goal. This would be a great step in that direction.
