4. Tidjane Salaun
Salaun is drawing consideration in the top ten after a strong professional season in France. The 18-year-old is averaging 9.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 21.8 minutes per game. Finding a 6’9 forward capable of shooting over 35 percent from 3-point range and offering versatility is not easy. Salaun checks those boxes and is one of the youngest players in this draft class.
The Spurs would love to add a combo forward who can stretch the floor and defend multiple positions next to Victor Wembanyama. He could open up space offensively and make plays on both ends of the floor. San Antonio has larger needs but is still early in a rebuild. They should take the best player available and it may be Salaun depending on where they select.
Can he round out his game? His efficiency, playmaking, and ball control must improve. Salaun has a negative assist-to-turnover ratio and is shooting just 41.5 percent from the field. He needs the right fit in the NBA, and the Spurs will likely add a veteran point guard to set up their young frontcourt duo. Salaun could blossom in San Antonio.
The San Antonio Spurs may have two French players in their frontcourt after the 2024 NBA Draft, especially if they target a point guard with the first selection.
