The San Antonio Spurs will be the biggest winners on draft night. They assured that by winning the lottery and the right to draft Victor Wembanyama. It was their third franchise-altering lottery win, and this one had Spurs fans ecstatic as Wemby is the most-hyped prospect since LeBron James.
The franchise is already devising a plan on how to make year one a success. NBA Big Board’s Rafael Barlowe dropped the rumors (subscription required) that San Antonio wants to acquire a second first-round pick and veterans to round out their roster. They have cap space and are eager to build around the 7’4 French prodigy.
The 2023 NBA Draft takes place on June 22, and it will be a massive night for the Spurs. Getting Victor Wembanyama is gigantic, but San Antonio does not plan on being done there. What else should fans be looking forward to on Thursday evening?

They would love to jump into the first round, and the Spurs could use some of their excess draft capital to do it. They have more picks than they can roster, so do not be surprised to see them use some of that surplus.
