Social media is the gift that keeps on giving. You can look to it for funny dog videos or feel-good stories around the country. You can gather breaking news or watch the latest street brawl in a city you've never heard of. Sometimes, it's the simple things that bring you pleasure when scouring the internet's largest hangout spots and compliments from all-time greats fit into that box, even when they come from one of your biggest rivals.

Magic sees the threat the Spurs and Wembanyama pose clearly

There has been much talk about what the Spurs' timeline should be, but the players on the court will ultimately decide what path the organization needs to take. Devin Vassell averaged almost 20 points per game and everyone knows about Victor Wembanyama's production already; it's been covered up, down and sideways. They're going to be ready to win soon and with Vassell going into his fifth season, he's bound to be tired of picking in the lottery.

Victor Wembanyama is unique for many reasons. The obvious ones are in regard to his size but what's important for this discussion is his capacity for improvement. While it was easy to pile on the rest of the players on the Spurs for missing what were considered easy reads to the casual observer, Wembanyama was also to blame for some of the ugly basketball played at the beginning of the season.

He turned the ball over too much and found himself on the ground way more than one would like, succumbing to the physicality defenses threw at him. By the end of the season, he looked like a top 20 player in the NBA. That kind of elevation from a rookie is a glimpse into the rapid rise you can expect when they have entire offseasons to work on their game. It's scary stuff. So, the Lakers legend, Magic Johnson, sees what everyone should see. The future is already here.
