Trade 5: Hawks and Spurs make fairly sensible deal for Dejounte Murray

This deal involves the Hawks receiving Keldon Johnson, Julian Champagnie, and two of 2025's first-round picks (ATL and CHI). San Antonio would receive Dejounte Murray and Patty Mills. It did not take long to get to the most popular Spurs rumor over the last week. Some tweaks should be made to this proposal, but it would be a strong deal for both parties.

Many fans would be elated to have Patty back in the 210. Mills developed ties with the community that will be remembered for years to come. His energy, shot-making, professionalism, and unwavering support of his teammates made him a delight to cheer for, but the time for Mills has passed.

The Spurs would do well to try to bring in De'Andre Hunter instead. Losing both KJ and Champagnie would leave the Spurs thin on the wing, while the addition of Patty would create a logjam at point guard. San Antonio still needs to grow Tre Jones and Blake Wesley. Both players have shown they belong on the floor; they deserve time to grow. The front office may need to include an additional first-round pick to pry Hunter away but picks can't play.
