Any NBA fan who spends time scrolling through Twitter already knows it's full of outlandish hot takes. San Antonio Spurs fans know all too well that their team and its legends regularly tend to be on the receiving end of these terrible takes. One ridiculous assertion came from a Lakers fan who recently compared Austin Reaves to Hall of Famer Manu Ginobili:

Understandably, that opinion went over poorly on Spurs' Twitter, with many fans taking offense to the user comparing a second-year player on a losing team to a four-time NBA champion.

Comparing Reaves to Ginobili ignores his many career accomplishments.

Reaves is unquestionably an impressive young player and has played very well of late in the absence of LeBron James, but that does not mean he is on a trajectory to become the next Ginobili. Even if you disregard that Ginobili is a Hall of Famer, he was still a multi-time NBA All-Star, and Reaves is still a long way from reaching that level. Then there is also the fact that he has yet to play in a single playoff game thus far in his young career. Ginobili, on the other hand, was often one of the best players on championship-caliber teams.

Despite all that, what is perhaps even crazier than the comparison is that there was also a fair share of presumably fellow Laker fans who agreed the two share a resemblance on their court. More than 400 people liked the post, which strongly implies they never watched Ginobili play in his prime. Ginobili and Reaves are not the same, and suggesting that Reaves is already on his level is laughable.

Of course, these takes tend to draw a lot of attention, thus incentivizing these people to come up with more lazy and lousy player comps. Fortunately, Spurs fans will always be there to help remind people.
