This one is a doozy.

Would the Spurs and Suns agree to the deal?

The proposed deal would see the Spurs acquire a former scoring champion in Beal, but it would cost them a lot of depth while not giving them a lot in terms of assets. While those second-round picks could be good, as far as seconds are concerned, the Spurs would probably have far more interest in two first-round pick swaps in the back half of the 2020s.

And although Beal is a better player than Johnson, Barnes, and Champagnie, moving all three for him wouldn't make much sense. Barnes will likely start at four, while Johnson and Champagnie will come off the bench and play backup small forward and power forward.

Meanwhile, adding Beal would push Vassell up to the three and gut San Antonio's depth on the wing, though Stephon Castle would probably earn significant minutes as a result. Factor in that Beal will make $53.6 million on average over the next three seasons, and it's a non-starter for the Spurs. The Suns would probably secretly love to get off of Beal's contract and trade him for depth, but they don't have the assets to make a deal with San Antonio work.
