Cheer for the Toronto Raptors hold their spot in the late lottery

The Toronto Raptors are right where San Antonio Spurs fans should want them. Through 17 games they're just under .500 and are projected to have the 10th pick in the draft. Toronto's routing their first-round pick to San Antonio as long as it's outside the top-six. So if the Raptors can hold steady, the Spurs could have two top-ten picks in this year's draft.

Of course, there is always a chance that Masai Ujiri will decide to pull the plug on this era of the Raptors and trade players for picks. Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby have already been brought up by Shams Charania as potential trade targets for Sacramento.

There's clearly interest around the league in acquiring either one of Toronto's two-way difference makers. If the Raptors want to get a deal done it shouldn't be hard to find a partner.

Toronto could just as easily retool their roster to bring in another star-level player to help push them back to the playoffs. Shams also mentioned them as a team that was going to have some interest in trading for Zach LaVine.

Making the playoffs doesn't impact if this first-round pick conveys this year or not, it just gets Toronto out of the lottery and away from the slim chance they luck into a top-four pick. Where they are right now is perfect. Bad enough to be in the lottery and not so bad that they're likely to end up in the top-six. Right in the sweet spot.

So Toronto, don't change a thing. Don't go sending OG to New York or binging in the disgruntled LaVine. Don't rock the boat at all. You're doing perfectly.
