2. If Ray Allen misses that last-second corner three-point shot in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals

There were less than 30 seconds left in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals. The confetti was ready to be dropped, and the Spurs championship t-shirts were being unboxed. The expression "Don't count your chickens before they hatch" seems fitting when describing this moment.

Trialing 95-92 with their third NBA title hopes slipping away, the Miami Heat did not back down. Still playing aggressively, LeBron James hoisted up an off-balanced/forced shot beyond the arc, only to hit the left side of the rim. Unfortunately, the worst happened, as Chris Bosh grabbed the offensive rebound and quickly slung it to an open Ray Allen, who was itching for the ball from the corner. Allen would hit the game-tying shot to send the game in overtime, stunning the Spurs players and shifting momentum in their favor.

The Spurs would go on to lose in overtime and eventually lose two nights later in Miami after a one-sided game seven. Miami became back-to-back champions in front of their home crowd, as the Spurs were still in shock days later. The team knew that they should have never lost Game 6.

Fans can only wonder what would have happened if Allen had missed the 25-footer. Of course, the Spurs would win their fifth title one year earlier and go 5 for 5 in the NBA Finals. However, chances are, they wouldn't have made it to the 2014 championship, as that year's return to the finals was fueled by a thirst for revenge. For Miami, 2013 would have certainly been the end of the big three, and James could be a three-time champion today, hurting his argument as the league's greatest.

If the Spurs were undefeated in the NBA Finals, and specifically Duncan, the Spurs would be looked at as having one of the greatest two-decade runs in sports history. Duncan himself might very well be on the Mount Rushmore of the NBA with an undefeated finals resume as well.
