Air Alamo Roundtable: End-of-Season Awards for the San Antonio Spurs
By Ty Jager
Most Valuable Player: Keldon Johnson
Keldon is overburdened as a first option. Keldon is a pretty bad defender. Keldon may be dispensable. Whatever. Keldon remains the MVP of this team not only for his relatively solid on-court production, but also for his sheer leadership. The Spurs, despite nearly setting a franchise record for futility, never imploded nor had a locker room issue. Having the GOAT coach and a likeable vet in Gorgui helped, but the bulk of the credit belongs to The Mustang. The vibes of the Spurs this season resembled that of a 60-win team. - Kyle Pring
The Spurs had one player who averaged over 20 points per game this season and it was Keldon Johnson. It is not easy to score in this league and Johnson is doing it without much space, ranking top five in shots taken with a defender within two feet. - Jahlil Williams
