2.) San Antonio has more free agent appeal

San Antonio is home to world-class citizens, cuisine, and culture, but it has never been much of a free agent destination. The arrival of a once-in-a-lifetime prospect like Wembanyama could work wonders to erase that narrative, though his talent alone might not be enough to entice big names to ditch their current setup for a change of scenery with the Spurs. No need to worry, this is where Popovich might be able to use his prestige to factor into the equation.

We have already heard superstar point guard Damian Lillard express his admiration for Popovich and the Spurs organization this offseason. While that is far from an explicit request to add San Antonio to his list of preferred landing spots, his endorsement speaks to the respect players have for the stern-faced head coach.
