4 opponents we’d like to see the Spurs open the 2024–25 season against
3. Memphis Grizzlies
Last season, the Spurs finally beat the Grizzlies after a 13-game losing streak. It was the longest stretch of defeat at the hands of a single team that San Antonio has had in recent memory, but it was only one and it took the absence of all of their key players to make it happen. While the guys desperately needed to snap that streak, doing it when Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Marcus Smart couldn't suit up for the game is very unsatisfying.
The last time Vic matched up against Morant, the odds were stacked against San Antonio, but General Manager Brian Wright added some reinforcements. Chris Paul will help the Spurs get buckets against the stout defense the Grizzlies can lock into, and Stephon Castle will help harass Morant from start to finish.
Morant was cleared for full contact a month ago, so he should be ready for the start of the new season. He missed almost the entire campaign last season due to his suspension and injury. The NBA is better when Ja Morant is in uniform and kicking off his return against Victor Wembanyama, and the crew would be must-see television.
