Loser: Keldon Johnson

While Keldon Johnson was the leading scorer for San Antonio last season, he is due for a diminished role with the introduction of Wembanyama and the emergence of Vassell. The fifth-year forward only scored 9.0 points per game on 37.5% shooting during the preseason. This decrease in shots and aggression stood in stark contrast after a career year for the Spurs in 2022-23. But this shouldn't be a surprise since the coaching staff has undoubtedly adjusted the pecking order.

On a positive note, Johnson has made improvements on the defensive end. While the entire team looks better on that side of the ball, Keldon was transparent about wanting to repair his reputation and show more attention to detail as a defender. But if he hopes to maintain his starting role, he must be more consistent from three. It's not too late for him, but this is the season to prove he can be a significant piece of San Antonio's future.
