3 Winners and 3 Losers from San Antonio Spurs Preseason

Loser: Blake Wesley
While predominantly an afterthought for fans as the third first-round pick from last summer, Blake Wesley must prove himself to the Spurs following a lackluster preseason performance. San Antonio realized the 20-year-old would take time to develop when he entered the NBA with an unrefined skillset. But his time might be running thin heading into his second season since the franchise is looking to improve and compete in 2023-24.
After Wesley averaged 4.6 points per game on an inefficient 30.8% shooting this preseason, it felt like he was never in the running for the main rotation. While his freakish first step helps him outrun the competition, he continued struggling with ball security. The game has not slowed down for him, and he will likely spend time in Austin. With other youngsters like Sidy Cissoko and Sir'Jabari Rice hoping to earn minutes, the second-year guard must show improvement before it's too late.
