3 teams Spurs are better than in spite of their record

The San Antonio Spurs are last in the Western Conference, with one of the worst records in franchise history, but despite the record, there are worse NBA teams.

2. Charlotte Hornets (17-50)

The Hornets are a bit of a surprise because of the skills LaMelo Ball possesses. He is a very talented player with size, a crafty game, and elite vision. His presence alone should elevate the offense of a team at the very least, yet the Hornets are 29th in offensive rating. One would think his passing prowess would rub off on the rest of the team but that is not the case. Charlotte ranks 27th in assists compared to the rest of the league.

As much as Spurs fans get upset about the players not passing to Wembanyama enough, one thing that cannot be denied is that they do pass the ball. They rank second in the league in assists per game.

San Antonio's last game against the Hornets was on January 19th. The Silver and Black ended up on the wrong side of that one with a score of 124-120, but PJ Washington went 7/11 from the field and 3/4 from three, ending the game with 20 points on 63% shooting. Meanwhile, Terry Rozier chipped in 17 points and 8 assists. LaMelo Ball's 28 points put them over the top, but Washington and Rozier have since been traded, and they are no longer that same team.
