2025's class of free agents could be major factor for Spurs 2024 decisions

With a more talented free agent class in 2025, waiting to sign free agents could be the smarter move for the San Antonio Spurs.

1) Brandon Ingram

The Duke alum has blossomed into a great scorer in the NBA. Ingram, a 20-plus scorer in five consecutive years, would be a legit scoring threat and a solid signing for San Antonio. Eventually, Wembanyama will get heavier pressure from opposing teams and San Antonio needs someone to carry the scoring load when it happens. Ingram could have a hefty price tag but sometimes you have to pay to play.

2) OG Anunoby

OG Anunoby can make a case for being the NBA's best wing defender. Anunoby can guard positions 1-5, making it look easy. His wide frame, great instincts, and toughness could give San Antonio a huge boost defensively. For a team that has struggled on defense in recent years, Anunoby could be a home-run signing.

3) Lauri Markkanen

Power forward Lauri Markkanen had been mentioned as a possible Spur summers ago when he was with the Chicago Bulls. Now, two years later and with a cheaper price tag, this could be a better time to get him. His dynamic shooting ability and athleticism make him a mismatch for most defenses.

They say better late than ever and Markkanen coming to San Antonio in 2025 could prove to be the right move.
