18. Toronto Raptors (via Pacers) pick Ryan Dunn

The Raptors will be on the edge of their seats during the lottery to see if they keep their selection. In this mock, they selected Stephon Castle at sixth overall to give them a strong defensive guard to play next to Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley, and R.J. Barrett. Toronto may look to further upgrade on that end after being 27th in defensive rating this season.

Dunn will be a plus-defender the moment he enters the NBA. The 6’8 wing can guard virtually every player on the floor and creates havoc with his defense. He excels both on and off the ball and was arguably the best wing defender in the NCAA this season.

The 21-year-old averaged 8.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 2.3 blocks in 27.5 minutes per game. He is an elite defender, but his offensive game is a work in progress. Dunn made just 12 of his 51 NCAA 3-point attempts over 65 college games. He does not space the floor and is without a role offensively.

The 6’8 wing must develop to get significant NBA minutes. Teams cannot afford to play a non-shooter who does not handle the ball, make plays, or finish inside. Dunn’s defense leaps off the screen, but he will be just a bench option without making an offensive impact.
