16. Los Angeles Lakers select Tidjane Salaun

*Pelicans have a choice to select the Lakers' first-round pick in 2024 or 2025 from the Anthony Davis trade.

Rumors suggest the Pelicans want the Lakers' selection in the 2025 draft. That would change if LA moved up in the lottery, but New Orleans would prefer the selection in a deeper draft and is betting against the Lakers' prospects for next season.

LA may trade this pick either way. They would have three first-round picks available to move, which could be enough to land a third star next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Lakers would not be able to trade it until after the draft, but this is a blockbuster development worth watching.

Salaun is a 6’9 teenage forward with immense upside. He can handle the ball, spread the floor, and defend multiple positions. The French teenager is playing a role for Cholet Basket this season where he averages 9.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 22.9 minutes per game.

Every team wants wings with size and skill. Tidjane Salaun has both and could be a top-ten pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. It will depend on how things fall but do not be surprised to see the Lakers shoot for upside if they keep this selection.
