15. Miami Heat draft Isaiah Collier

Collier rose to number one overall on several boards early in the season as he was consistently making jumpers. He shot 53.9 percent from the field and 42.1 percent on his 3-pointers during his first seven games before making 47.5 percent and 31.1 percent over the final 20 contests.

It was a disappointing season for USC, and Collier missed a month with a hand injury. The Trojans did not qualify for the NCAA Tournament, but having the teenager come back and play strong down the stretch added to his value.

He averaged 16.3 points, 4.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 30.0 minutes per game. Finding a 6’5 guard with plus athleticism who is eager to attack the basket is not easy. Collier’s shooting must improve, but he could become a two-way standout in the right system.

The Heat are one of the best organizations in the NBA at developing talent. From maximizing late first-round picks to finding undrafted talent, players improve in Miami. If Collier develops a consistent jumper, upgrades his defense, and enhances his playmaking, he could be a starting point guard for a decade-plus in the NBA. Do not be surprised to see it happen if he lands on South Beach.
