2024 NBA Mock Draft 4.0: Spurs get 2 game-changers, Wizards land potential star at 1

9. Utah Jazz select Stephon Castle
Castle has made a massive impact on the reigning NCAA champions. UConn is again one of the best teams in the country, and the 19-year-old freshman has seamlessly fit as a starter. Adding a talented 6’6 wing capable of defending multiple positions and creating chaos on that end of the floor is appealing to any team.
Castle is averaging 10.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 0.9 steals in 26.8 minutes per game. His jumper is a bit of a question mark as he has shot just 28.1 percent on his 57 3-point attempts this season. Every team wants quality 3-and-D wings, but stout defenders with a questionable offensive role are a bit harder to place. Castle has playmaking and shooting upside, but the teenager needs time to improve.
Stephon Castle has a bit of a wide range, but this class is light on wings. He will defend and has significant offensive upside. That profile should see him selected in the lottery and could make him a quality NBA starter for a decade-plus.
The Utah Jazz are searching for quality wings. Lauri Markkanen has become a star, but the team remains in the lottery. They need a lead ball-handler and stout defense on the perimeter. In the right situation, Castle may be able to fill both roles.
