2024 NBA Mock Draft 4.0: Spurs get 2 game-changers, Wizards land potential star at 1
By Tyler Watts
28. Utah Jazz (via Thunder) take Tyler Kolek
The Jazz need a true point guard on their roster. Jordan Clarkson leads the team with 5.0 assists per game. Rookie Keyonte George is averaging 4.5 in just 25.9 minutes per game, and Collin Sexton is at 4.7, but all are more score-first options. Utah added Stephon Castle in the lottery and could take the best point guard left on the board with this selection from the Thunder.
Kolek is averaging 15.0 points, 7.6 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.6 steals in 32.4 minutes per game in his senior year for Marquette. He started his college career at George Mason before transferring in 2021.
Kolek is a strong pick-and-roll playmaker who has shot 47.8 percent from the field, 39.9 percent on his 3-point attempts, and 83.5 percent from the foul line over the last two years combined. The 6’3 guard will make plays and spread the floor for whatever team selects him in the 2024 NBA Draft.
There are questions about his defense, but that does not stop the Jazz. Clarkson, Sexton, and George are not exactly lockdown perimeter stoppers. Kolek could blossom playing under Will Hardy, and the 22-year-old should be able to handle reserve minutes as a rookie.
