26. Milwaukee Bucks choose Zach Edey

Edey has arguably been the best player in the NCAA for two straight years. He won National Player of the Year in 2023 and may have been better in his senior campaign. Purdue is among the favorites to take home the championship, and Edey is a massive reason why.

The 7’4 big man averaged 24.2 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.2 blocks in 31.3 minutes per game. He shot 61.9 percent from the field and 71.8 percent on his free throws. Edey attempted just two 3-pointers during his college career but is a dominant force in the paint.

Why is the most productive player in college basketball going at 26? Scout's concerns are real. He is listed at 7’4 and 285 pounds. Edey will have to play drop coverage in the NBA. He cannot guard on the perimeter and will struggle to get back in transition. Can a traditional center play more than 20 minutes in the modern NBA? Edey believes he can, but it is no guarantee.

The Bucks must draft somebody capable of helping them immediately. They want to keep their spending down as they compete for a championship. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard will make Milwaukee a contender, so any production Zach Edey can provide as a backup big man is a victory for the Bucks.
