2024 NBA Mock Draft 4.0: Spurs get 2 game-changers, Wizards land potential star at 1

23. New Orleans Pelicans snag Jaylon Tyson
The Pelicans took Kyle Filipowski in the lottery of this mock draft. They need a big man, and the seven-footer should fill that void. New Orleans may shop this selection, but their focus should be on finding an impactful wing if they decide to add a prospect to their roster.
Tyson is on his third college team in three seasons. He started at Texas, but barely saw the floor. The 6’7 wing transferred to Texas Tech for his sophomore campaign before going to Cal for year three. He broke out with the Golden Bears as he averaged 19.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.2 steals in 34.3 minutes per game. Cal is not in the NCAA Tournament, but Tyson did plenty to impress.
The 21-year-old will draw plenty of interest in the pre-draft process. He has shot 37.2 percent from 3-point range during his NCAA days. Finding a strong 3-and-D wing under team control for eight years would be massive for any contender, and Tyson has the upside.
Jaylon Tyson will continue to improve. He could blossom into a key role player, but it will take time. The Pels are no strangers to developing talent, and the 6’7 wing is the best one left on the board.
