2024 NBA Mock Draft 4.0: Spurs get 2 game-changers, Wizards land potential star at 1

17. Toronto Raptors (via Pacers) snag Kyshawn George
Miami had a disastrous close to the season, including losing their final ten games. It was not ideal for George’s draft stock, but the 6’8 wing displayed enough flashes that he will likely be taken in the first round. This class is light on impact wings, so teams will shoot for upside at the position, especially on players with size.
The 20-year-old averaged 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.9 steals in 23.0 minutes per game for Miami. He made 1.7 3-pointers each night and shot 40.8 percent from long range. His shooting coupled with playmaking flashes have scouts intrigued. Some team will take a shot on his upside. The questions are which team and where?
George played better against ACC competition this season, which should give evaluators some confidence in his upside. He can shoot, but the defense and overall game need work if he wants to shine at the next level.
The Raptors love to draft size and upside. Masai Ujiri has hits and misses with this strategy. Scottie Barnes, OG Anunoby, and Pascal Siakam have all blossomed in the NBA, but Bruno Caboclo never found a role. Do not be surprised to see Ujiri shoot for upside as Toronto retools around Barnes. Kyshawn George could blossom into an impactful role player, but it will take time.
