10. Atlanta Hawks choose Tidjane Salaun
The Hawks are far from contenders and could make a significant roster overhaul this summer. Fans are already starting to hear the Dejounte Murray and Trae Young rumors, but they may not be the only players on the move. Atlanta is keeping Jalen Johnson and should choose the best player available with this selection.
Salaun is another teenage French prospect with massive upside. He is averaging 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 22.4 minutes per game playing professionally for Cholet Basket in his native France. The 6’9 forward can play like a guard, which has scouts excited.
Salaun made 35.9 percent of his 245 3-point attempts in his first two pro seasons but has been inconsistent in year three. He connected on 33.9 percent of 171 tries this year and is in the middle of a cold stretch. Being a plus-shooter with ball-handling ability makes the 18-year-old a top-ten selection, so his jumper is something to watch over the next three months.
Johnson and Salaun could form a dynamic forward duo. Both players have versatile skill sets with plus-size. It could be the Hawks' answer to building a winner around Trae Young. They need size and defense. If Tidjane Salaun becomes a plus-shooter, he could be a quality NBA role player for a decade-plus.
