Spurs draft haul

  • 4th overall: Nikola Topic, G, Crvena Zvezda
  • 8th overall: Stephon Castle, W, UConn
  • 35th overall: Alex Karaban, F, UConn
  • 48th overall: Izan Almansa, F, G League Ignite

The Spurs filled arguably their biggest flaw by drafting Topic and Castle in the top eight. Both guards have size and playmaking ability. It should create more open looks for Victor Wembanyama and give him a dynamic backcourt duo to grow with. Shooting improvements are a must, but it is a fun young core when factoring in Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan.

Do not be surprised to see Topic and Castle transform into plus-shooters. Both are still young and improving their games. The Spurs need floor spacing but should focus on finding talent. They have their star but need supporting pieces to contend.

The San Antonio Spurs could go in several different directions with their 2024 draft picks. Do they try to trade for an immediate upgrade or build slowly around Wemby? The Spurs have time, but not much. It is time to improve, and it starts with this draft. Stay tuned to see what transpires.
