Winner: Stephon Castle

Rookie guard Stephon Castle played exceedingly well during the preseason, leading to him potentially having a bigger-than-expected role this season. While he likely won't start, his play on both sides of the ball should ensure that he gets minutes.

Offensively, his 3-point shot looks better than expected, and he shot 50% on threes during the preseason, including hitting three in one game. He also showed a knack for getting to the basket by using screens and crafting maneuvers to attack and finish at the rim.

Defensively, he was as good as advertised with his size and length as well as his tenacity, making him effective in guarding opposing wings. That alone will get him playing time, and his shot creation can help the Spurs too.

It makes sense for him to play alongside Paul or Jones, and he will likely play plenty with both this season. Should he carve out a significant role as a rookie, then he has a chance to become the second straight Spurs player to win Rookie of the Year. Castle contributing to a winning team would be a great learning experience and hopefully accelerate his development.
