Wembanyama poised for long career in San Antonio despite crazy take from fans

San Antonio Spurs fans on social media make a suggestion on how Victor Wembanyama should move this off-season. It's crazier than you might think.

The San Antonio Spurs have not been at the bottom of the league for long. When the team's fans express angst over the lack of competitiveness, it falls on deaf ears for the fans of teams who have been in poverty for extended stretches. There is an understandable spoiled nature that comes with supporting a team that has only ever had 10 losing seasons in its 50-year existence, but some statements are so outrageous they deserve to be called to the carpet.

If I’m Victor’s agent I tell him to let this season play out, let’s see if he can get support to make the AS game, hopefully ROTY, and then when exit interviews come he and his team give the Spurs a to do list that if not complied with will result in no go on any extension talks. https://t.co/UpuDYIF2Ek

Being upset about one's favorite team resting their head at the bottom of the NBA standings is normal. It is reasonable to want your team to compete when you are used to competing at a high level every year. But your squad has recently acquired one of the most hyped prospects ever. It's the equivalent of a recently bankrupt hedge fund manager winning a $10,000,000 jackpot and complaining about paying the taxes.

It's unlikely Victor Wembanyama will leave the Spurs any time soon

Wemby has been the ultimate professional since he arrived in the United States. From never shying from interviews to his dedication to improving, he understands his journey to greatness is a marathon, not a sprint. His maturity has been raved about by many and fans would be wise to adopt this mentality, as it will help with the despair felt after losses.

Champagnie says Playing with Wembanyama that he notices that he understands the game a lot more, very mature, a great teammate, that he apologizes when he takes bad shots. #nba #porvida #SanAntonio pic.twitter.com/mVMEVkD53w

Victor has been clear about his longtime desire to play for San Antonio. He has a connection with Tony Parker and respect for the organization. The insinuation that he is losing his patience with the team less than three months into his career and should start making waves after one season is asinine. What happened to the undying support and trust in an organization that has a proven track record for success? Go grab a Snickers, Spurs fans. You're not yourselves right now.
