Spurs' 2023-24 and 2024-25 NBA Seasons
Head Coach: Gregg Popovich/Quin Snyder (2024-25)
Assistant Coach Hire: Quin Snyder (2023-24)
The story that Quin Snyder's future with the Utah Jazz could be uncertain started months ago with NBA insider Marc Stein. Since then, that report has continued to gain traction, recently resulting in a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Tim MacMahon.
"After weeks of conversations with ownership and management, Utah Jazz coach Quin Snyder's future remains unclear and a possibility exists that he could decide to end his eight-year tenure with the franchise," said the column.
While he hasn't quite been able to have significant postseason success in Utah, Snyder has had some stellar seasons with them and already spent a few years working closely with the Spurs as their G League affiliate's coach from 2007-10.
At age 55, Snyder has established a 372-264 record through eight seasons, a 58.4 win percentage.
Some reports have suggested Snyder might want to take a season off to recharge after another frustrating postseason series loss with the Jazz. This plan would give him the opportunity to do that before returning to coaching alongside Manu Ginobili as an assistant under Popovich.
Hopefully, the Spurs can put together a winning season or playoff appearance by the end of the 2024 season, opening the door for Snyder to take over as Pop's successor to start the 2024-25 campaign. If not, Popovich could be motivated to give it one last go in a remarkable 29th season.
In year four of my ideal plan, Popovich will step aside no matter what happens, which I'll look at next.
