Zion Williamson - New Orleans Pelicans
After having offseason surgery to repair a right foot fracture, Zion Williamson was expected to start the regular season. Well, that didn't happen.
"The combination of Williamson's injury history and his fluctuating weight throughout his early career would concern any front office," said Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer in a recent story. In it, he talks about the risk of reinjury being a very real concern given Zion's history and body type.
There's currently no timetable for Williamson's return, but there's a belief that he'll be on a minutes restriction when he does come back -- something he's been frustrated with in the past. For however long it takes to get him back, the Pelicans are bound to struggle in a season in which they're already projected to be near the bottom of the West.
Williamson will likely be back for the Pelicans' first meeting with the Spurs on December 12th in San Antonio. The Spurs will play in New Orleans on February 12th and wrap up the season series back in the Alamo City on March 18th.
While Zion might not be absent for the matchups with the Spurs, his absence will be felt in the standings, where the Pelicans will likely be fighting for a play-in spot with San Antonio.
