The latest rumblings of interest surrounding the Spurs were generated from the same Bleacher Report column by Jake Fischer on January 27th. "Atlanta placed a call to San Antonio about Derrick White," he said in the piece.

While he didn't specify about what could've been offered or if the Spurs showed mutual interest, it's not the first time White has been linked as a name that would intrigue the Hawks.

Making the entire situation more compelling is the fact that Fischer reports John Collins is still very much on the market and could be traded for as little as a starting-caliber player and valuable first-round pick.

There was interest from the Spurs in the offseason for the athletic 6-9 power forward, and Collins has expressed his frustration with his role in Atlanta in the past. While a straight swap of White for Collins wouldn't work out financially, there are definitely ways to make a deal work centered around those two pieces if both sides were so inclined.

I'm not sure San Antonio is willing to part with their 2022 first-round pick without decent protection slapped onto it though, so that could be a deal-breaking detail.
