When Adam Silver walked across the stage to announce Joshua Primo was the San Antonio Spurs' 12th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Spurs fans everywhere said “who?”

In Air Alamo’s last mock draft, Primo was not even expected to go in the first round. After the initial confusion wore away, Spurs fans took to Twitter to express their displeasure, shock, and anger.

Some memes posted by Spurs fans contained references to guns, drugs, and alcohol, but user @SwaggyV25 took it old school and wholesome with Kermit the Frog, addressing the Spurs' needs compared to where they actually drafted.

@tbonespears didn’t use logic like SwaggyV did, but he still has it all figured out. Confusion tore through the fanbase and disassociation is probably how fans will cope. The confusion and laughing because we simply don’t know what else to do because, well, what else is there to do?

While some used humor to cope or reacted with anger, I think sadness will be the prevailing emotion for the rest of the offseason. A massive free-agent signing could still give fans hope, but as of now, it’s going to be a lot of tearful nights for Spurs fans.

Even while some fans were shocked, they at least were ready to recognize that Primo could work, but the Spurs didn’t handle the draft as well as they could have. Logic didn't really prevail on Draft Night, but I'm glad user @textodd was able to take a stab at it.

Positives and negatives aside, this tweet sums up how we all felt watching the draft pretty well. I hope we’re proven wrong, but as of now, I’m not sure.

While fans reacted differently, often with some form of sad humor, the most disturbing reaction came from Dejounte Murray. Often cryptic on Twitter, Murray clearly was not happy on Draft Night. I’m not sure how to describe the face used nine (!) times other than a cringe. It’s the face I make after I throw up, which is how I felt watching the draft.

Time will tell if this is a day the San Antonio Spurs look back on with regret.
