4. Tre Jones will beat out Bryn Forbes for backup point guard

Perhaps the most interesting positional battle in Spurs training camp will be between Bryn Forbes and Tre Jones. Forbes, a former Spur who was brought back in the offseason, seems to be the likely choice to fill Patty Mills' former role.

However, I believe Jones will build upon his impressive Summer League play and win the backup point guard role in training camp. Although Forbes provides the Spurs with a sharpshooter off the bench, the team also needs playmaking and ball-handling, something Jones adds.

Jones is also a capable defender, providing the Spurs with yet another defensive option to throw at some of the league's top guards, whereas Forbes definitely does not. Ultimately, I expect Forbes will still play regularly, though in spot minutes, while Jones will be the team's backup point guard beginning in training camp.
