San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich may become the NBA's all time winningest head coach this season

Coach Gregg Popovich will enter next season needing only 26 wins to become the winningest head coach in NBA history. It wIll certainly be an interesting storyline to follow, though one that is made all the more interesting by questions surrounding the team.

After all, with San Antonio now in the position of relying on younger players, the lack of experience could cost the team some close games. Considering most projections only expect the Spurs to win between 25 and 30 games, the team's inexperience may result in them finishing with an even worse record than expected.

Furthermore, an ill-timed injury to a key player like Derrick White could also prove costly. Popovich, in all likelihood, is entering his final season as head coach, meaning that if he comes up just short of the 26 wins he needs, he may never surpass Don Nelson. No one wants to see arguably the greatest coach ever retire just short of making history. Every game will increase in importance as the season goes on, making it a storyline that simply can't be ignored.
