3. Find a co-star for Dejounte Murray
The Spurs may be in year one of a rebuild but they already have a star to build around in Murray. That puts them ahead in the process and they should look to further accelerate the rebuild by trying to find him a costar. That's obviously easier said than done and would likely cost the Spurs significant assets but would put the team back in contention earlier.
Possible options could include Ben Simmons, Collins, or Sabonis, but it's unclear if any of them will be available past this trade deadline. Still, each could provide Murray some much-needed help as well as raise San Antonio's ceiling.
In the event that none of those players are available, there is at least the possibility that they have a future star player on the roster, with Johnson or Vassell being the most likely candidates. Johnson, in particular, has the chance to emerge as the team's second-best player next season.
All in all, the Spurs have the tools to get better this offseason but will need to be creative and aggressive in addressing the team's issues. That includes the Spurs fixing their lack of 3-point shooting, finding a starting power forward, and getting a co-star for Murray.
Ultimately, it may be difficult for the Spurs to accomplish all three this summer, but if they're able to, then they could make it back to the playoffs next season.
