Ranking the Spurs roster by sharpshooting ability

Other Notables (in no particular order):

Jeremy Sochan (70 Overall)

Jeremy Sochan’s shot-making ability (or in the opinion of some Negative Nellys, his lack thereof) has been and will continue to be the focus throughout the first couple years of his career. However, I’m more of the opinion that further development of his deep bag of other basketball skills is equally, if not more, important.

Tre Jones (60) & Josh Primo (73)

These are the two names locked into the battle for starting point guard, and it is interesting to compare the wide variance in their ratings in multiple areas. Very much reflecting their play styles, Primo is favored heavily in outside scoring, while Tre leads in playmaking (77 to 62) and close shot (94 to 73). I’m intrigued to see which abilities the coaching staff value more.

Gorgui Dieng (79 Overall) & Zach Collins (78)

Both of the Spurs’ backup big men offer the ability to stretch the floor. Unless the team decides to play super big, neither is fast enough to play forward, so that only really matters in the 20ish minutes that Jakob Poeltl is off the floor. Regardless, it offers a nice change of pace to Jak’s need to play close to the basket. Speaking of…

What the $*#%, 2K? How dare they disrespect the Spurs’ greatest weapon from deep like this. Here are two pieces of negating evidence:

In all seriousness, the NBA has been trending towards a league built on barrages of threes, something that Cal Durrett—also of Air Alamo—predicted the Spurs would follow in 2022-23. If the Spurs shoot as poorly as NBA 2K23 has projected them to, it will be a long season in San Antonio.
