For the San Antonio Spurs, the 2022-23 season is one that will be marked by growth and development. Without their best player from last season, it's hard to think they'll have much of any chance to be in the postseason picture by April.

So naturally, one of the things Spurs fans have to look forward to most this coming season is knowing that their team could be poised to acquire one of the top prospects in next year's stacked draft class. Most of the Silver and Black faithful already know the names Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson by heart.

With that in mind, ESPN announced on Tuesday that the two ultra-talented prospects will be playing against each other next month in Las Vegas, and that should have Spurs fans absolutely lined up to watch the high-level matchup.

Wembanyama Is Best NBA Prospect In Years

The two presumptive top picks in next summer's NBA Draft will face each other when Wembanyama's current team, Metropolitans 92, faces off against Henderson and the G League Ignite on October 4th and October 6th in Vegas.

Wemby and Scoot will go head-to-head and showcase their incredible talent on a national stage, and Spurs fans will be able to watch two prodigies they could potentially see in San Antonio in 2023.

Victor Wembanyama has been touted as 'the best prospect since LeBron James' and has an incredibly high upside. With his height officially listed as 7'2" and boasting a near eight-foot wingspan, his measurements are off the charts. He has the chance to be an impact player in the NBA from day one with his combined physical frame and guard-like skillset.

Don't Sleep On Scoot's Talent

On the other side of things, Scoot Henderson is widely viewed as a consensus number two to Wembanyama, but don't be fooled. Henderson's talent gives him superstar potential at the pro level as well.

His ball handling and scoring ability are top notch, and he enters his G League season with a built-out frame at 6'3" and 195 pounds — already the right size to be an NBA point guard. It's safe to say he would be the consensus number one pick if Victor had been draft eligible in 2022.

With that being said, Spurs fans will want to tune into this matchup to make their own judgments about each player's game. Most believe Wembanyama should go first right now, but the draft is still nine months away. A lot can change between now and then.

If the Spurs do end up with a chance at selecting one of the two top prospects, it would be their first time picking in the top two of the draft since 1997 when Tim Duncan was drafted first overall. Fans of the Silver and Black certainly won't want to miss out on this one.
