Next is Devin Vassell. Similar to Johnson, Vassell improved on his game last season. He jumped from scoring five points a game to double digits the previous season. The last time 2K updated his rating, they gave him a 76 overall. It's a bit underwhelming since there are a few players that produced similar numbers like him but are rated higher.
For example, Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson had almost identical per game and advanced stats, but looking at his rating in NBA 2K23, he's at an 80 overall. Maybe it's because he finished 3rd place in Sixth Man of the Year voting? I'm not sure if that makes sense. But, Vassell should have an overall rating of around 78-80 because of his massive improvement from the 2021-22 season.
The two-way swingman has a chance to be the team's second top scorer behind Keldon Johnson this upcoming season. Additionally, fans are excited to see his defense improve. We've speculated that Vassell might get an All-Defense team nod after the 2022-23 season. If he does make it into any All-Defense team, then the Paul George comparisons would be accurate.
