Spurs with most to prove: 1. Keldon Johnson

Fourth-year forward Keldon Johnson entered last season as the team's third option but is currently the Spurs' best player following the Murray trade. That comes with a new set of expectations, challenges, and opportunities. With limited scoring options and fewer playmakers, Johnson will be tasked with upping his game to make up for those roster deficiencies.

That's a lot to ask, but now that he's signed a 4-year, $74 million extension, it comes with the territory. If Johnson can play like he did in the second half of last season, in which he averaged 20.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists, then the Spurs might be more competitive than most expect.

He'd give the team a focal point that could draw defensive attention and create open shots for the players that can't consistently create for themselves. Of course, if he struggles as the number one option, the Spurs' offense could be awful. No pressure.

Ultimately, with the preseason just a few weeks away, we’ll soon get to see Collins, Jones, and Johnson in action. However, we’ll have to wait until the regular season to see how they truly respond to increased expectations.
