3 Reasons Deandre Ayton should join the Spurs

3. The Spurs have a rich history with legendary bigs
Tim Duncan, David Robinson, and LaMarcus Aldridge. Those are just a few big names that had the opportunity to play in the Spurs' system. Two of the previously mentioned people were drafted and developed by the team. Ayton is still young at 23 years of age. The Spurs can help him develop into a more well-rounded player.

With their history of shaping legendary big men, it would be a no-brainer for Ayton to sign with the team. Looking back, Duncan and Robinson played for the Spurs their entire careers, collecting trophies and making their way into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Aldridge meanwhile, joined the Spurs during his prime and became one of the cornerstones of the post-Duncan era. He made three All-Star teams during his stint for San Antonio and was forced to retire back in April of 2021 due to heart problems before returning to the NBA with the Nets.

The Spurs have an advantage in this particular field in recruiting Ayton. Other teams don't have a Duncan or a Robinson. With the way Duncan is still involved with the team, he can be the mentor Ayton needs. Asking the greatest power forward of all-time to recruit Ayton wouldn't be so bad.
