As much as this is beginning to feel like a broken record, with the 15th overall pick in the draft, I have the Charlotte Hornets selecting Mark Williams. This would likely be a no-brainer pick for the Hornets at this point if they choose to keep this pick. However, like a few of the previous picks in this mock, I think there’s a chance this pick or the 13th pick could be on the move as well.

Even centers that are considered very NBA-ready coming into the league can sometimes take a few seasons to truly become effective, and if I’m in the Charlotte Hornets' front office, I’m not so sure that I’m willing to wait that long. The time to start placing valuable players around LaMelo Ball is now, and if the Hornets can find a seasoned NBA center for a decent price, they may opt to go in that direction instead of the draft.

The Hornets were rumored to be in talks with the Spurs this past trade deadline for Jakob Poeltl, and most recently, the Hornets have been named as potential suitors for Myles Turner, Rudy Gobert, and possibly even Deandre Ayton. Several of these names would make quite a bit of sense for the Hornets if they’re looking to win sooner rather than later, so don’t be surprised if the team makes some serious noise on or around draft night.
