Our third G Leaguer off the board brings just as much intrigue as his teammates. A 6-foot-6 perimeter player with a seven-foot wingspan, MarJon Beauchamp set himself apart with exceptional outside defense and blistering athleticism for the Ignite.

Beuchamp’s athletic feats are functionalized on both sides of the floor. On one end, he muscles up opponents and elevates to finish near the rim. On the other, Beauchamp alters shots by extending his reach on drives and closing out against shooters with intention.

Beyond just his athletic abilities, Beauchamp showcased signs of life as a shot creator with an expanding dribble package and glimpses of tough shotmaking. Like so many players making the jump to pro-competition, his percentages won’t tell the full story since he struggled early into his G League stint.

The Central Washington native spent a year at JuCo before entering the G League. It helped him hone some of his raw skills and grow more confident in his abilities. Beauchamp would benefit from joining a team that will give him a low-stakes role to begin. That way, he can adapt to the NBA style and assert himself where it makes sense. Asking too much of him early on might stunt his growth.

Memphis has one of the best developmental programs in basketball. Their staff puts young players’ core skills to use while helping them flesh out separate parts of their game. Ideally, the Grizzlies could use another wing player to handle the rock in bursts and put some pressure on the rim while competing on defense. This player/destination pairing is one of my favorites from the 2022 NBA Mock Draft.
