With the 22nd pick in the draft, the Denver Nuggets select Kansas’ Christian Braun.
The Nuggets are known for taking some serious swings in the draft, but I think they’re at a point where they need to prioritize finding winning players that will help to push them over the top. I think they’ll be eyeing a few NBA-ready wings with this pick, but ultimately, I have them selecting one of the biggest sleepers in this draft in Christian Braun.
Braun is a 6’6”-6’7”, 218-pound ball of strength and athleticism that I think will be a fantastic pickup for a competitive team like the Nuggets late in the first round. He’s a career 38% three-point shooter, has a great knack for being in the right place at the right time, and shines in transition. Outside of Ochai Agbaji, Braun has been one of Kansas’ most consistent two-way players and knows how to make an impact on a game even when his shots aren’t falling.
He's a very good rebounder for his size, plays aggressive defense when he’s locked in, and is generally a pest for other teams to deal with. I think he would bring a much-needed dose of energy for a Nuggets team that could use a bit more help on the wing.
What I think will separate Braun from the rest of the pack for the Nuggets is his consistent production during the NCAA Tournament and during high-pressure moments in general.
