The San Antonio Spurs already made a major adjustment by sending away one starter in Derrick White, but that could just be the first of many rotation shifts.
In the small sample size since inserting Devin Vassell into the starting lineup, the Spurs have had one of the best starting fives in the NBA on both sides of the ball. While that will trend back to the norm over time, it looks like their starting five of Dejounte Murray, Vassell, Jakob Poeltl, Doug McDermott, and Keldon Johnson is here to stay for the rest of this season.
Going forward, however, I'm not so sure San Antonio doesn't look a little different with their starting five in 2023. Despite White being one of the squad's best two-way players, the Spurs were ok with parting with him in favor of the younger talent waiting their turn.
With guys like Joshua Primo still waiting to blossom and potentially more young guys joining the mix from near the top of the NBA Draft, we could see a case where another starting lineup shift happens sooner than expected.
With that said, here are a couple of current starters that could have their starting gig challenged as early as opening day of the 2022-23 NBA season.
