Patty Mills is the latest member of the San Antonio Spurs to celebrate his birthday this summer.
Quite a few San Antonio Spurs have birthdays in the summer as Derrick White, Bryn Forbes, Pau Gasol, LaMarcus Aldridge, Manu Ginobili and DeMar DeRozan all celebrated another year over the past five weeks. Rudy Gay’s 32nd birthday is on the way, too.
Well, Saturday, Aug. 11 marks the big 30th birthday for Patty Mills. He’s the seventh current Spur to cross this milestone age mark.

Mills has plenty to celebrate, after finishing his seventh season in San Antonio, where he started a career-high 36 games and averaged 10 points and 2.8 assists on 37.2 percent shooting from behind the arc. He also managed to stay amidst the departures of several high-profile players, including Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green and Tony Parker.
After signing a new contract in 2017, Mills still has three years left, which would take him through a 10th season in the Silver and Black. If that becomes the case, he should stick as the backup point guard to Dejounte Murray, who will take the reigns for the full season in 2018-19.
What will Mills do in his eighth year in San Antonio? Look for him to move into a more comfortable role as a one-guard, especially with the team’s depth at shooting guard; he often played this role next to Murray last season.
Through nine NBA seasons, Mills has averaged 8.2 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists on 43.2 percent shooting and 39 percent from three-point range. He was part of the 2013-14 Spurs team that won the NBA Finals.
