The rumor mill continues to run wild for the San Antonio Spurs and the rest of the NBA.
The San Antonio Spurs have played a part in the NBA’s rumor mill since January, when the talk of Kawhi Leonard’s fractured relationship with the organization came to the forefront. It will arguably become the offseason’s main topic once the 2018 NBA Finals conclude.
However, the rumors hardly stop there. Plenty of conversation around the draft and free agency have taken up the time between the conference finals game. Does a big-name player want out of his situation?
Let’s take a look at the latest rumors for May 19:
- On the latest episode of The Lowe Post (h/t Yahoo Sports), ESPN’s Zach Lowe and Brian Windhorst discussed Karl-Anthony Towns “not being in a good place internally” with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
- According to Sean Deveney of Sporting News, the Memphis Grizzlies, who own the No. 4 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, “want to try to turn the pick into something else.” They were projected at No. 2 before Tuesday’s lottery.
- According to the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Lakers apparently told teams that no one is untouchable. That might open the eyes of anyone who thinks the Spurs should connect with them on a Kawhi Leonard trade. While there has not been a rumored package, something involving at least one of Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball or Kyle Kuzma seems inevitable.
- According to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, Chandler Hutchison withdrew from the NBA Combine because he was assured of a “safe landing spot,” likely in the first round of the draft.
Chandler Hutchison has withdrawn from the NBA Combine and canceled all workouts after receiving assurances he's found a "safe landing spot." It appears that he has secured a promise from a team drafting in the 20-30 range. Hutchison is currently slated #24 on the ESPN mock draft
