The San Antonio Spurs announced that Amida Brimah and London Perrantes were waived on Thursday evening.
The San Antonio Spurs were over the 15 man roster limit for the 2017-18 season, so multiple players were bound to be waived. That became the situation on Thursday evening.
In a press release on Spurs.com, it was officially announced that center Amida Brimah and guard London Perrantes were waived. Both players spent time in Spurs training camp and saw on-court action in the preseason.
Perrantes was signed in August after playing four years at Virginia. He entered the NBA as an undrafted free agent. Preseason time was limited for the 23-year-old, who appeared in three games and totaled just 15 minutes, making one shot on one attempt. He didn’t play in Tuesday’s loss to the Orlando Magic.
Brimah joined the Spurs as a training camp addition in September. He was a big body for a team that needed them, at least for preseason prep. The UConn product saw action in three games, including Tuesday’s loss to the Orlando Magic, averaging 3.0 points and 3.0 rebounds. He didn’t play in Game 2 against the Sacramento Kings.
These moves put the Spurs at 17 players. That includes Darrun Hilliard and Matt Costello, who are on two-way contracts and likely heading for the G-League, and an injured Tony Parker. So, a player like Derrick White looks like he has a roster spot, for now, unless the Spurs plan on sending him to Austin.
Other than these players, that might be in for any team transactions before the 2017-18 season starts. Do you like the look of the roster?
