The San Antonio Spurs announced an open scrimmage for before the 2017-18 NBA season.

The San Antonio Spurs will have a quiet month of September. This goes for all the other NBA teams, as it’s the awkward period after the offseason and before training camp starts. Not much happens in the way of signings, trades and headline-worthy news.

For the Spurs, their season doesn’t start until Wednesday, Oct. 18 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. So even with training camp, there are about six weeks remaining before Opening Night.

Before that happens, the franchise is offering fans a chance (first-come, first-serve seating) to see the Spurs in action. It’s inviting fans to the AT&T Center on Saturday, Sep. 30 at 11:00 a.m. It will be an intra-squad scrimmage, featuring the team in action.

Best of all, it’s free to attend, so this could be a day to bring the family and friends to the arena for an afternoon of fun. Draft beer is just $1, as well as soda at select locations. Fans will get 25 percent off at the Spurs Fan Shop and get special ticket offers at the venue, too.

This scrimmage will also be streamed live on San Antonio’s Facebook page. So, if you’re unable to attend or live far from the AT&T Center, you’ll be able to watch this online.

This will be a fun way to get ready for the season in what should be a light-hearted day of action. So head to the AT&T Center on Sep. 30 and enjoy an afternoon of basketball.
