Free-agent center Dewayne Dedmon has agreed to a two-year, $6 million deal with theSan Antonio Spurs, league sources told The Vertical.
The 26-year old will bring an athletic, strong body to San Antonio’s front line. Departing with a 7-footer and gaining another whom is defensive minded and can finish at the rim will be a plus. Deadmon will provide a much needed boost behind LaMarcus Aldridge and Pau Gasol.
Dedmon can run the floor with the best of them. You can see in the video, he quickly can get off the floor and finish at the rim. What is more apparent, he can keep up with the rest of the bigs, and even guards in the league with the speed he possesses.
Per Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders, the Golden State Warriors “really” wanted to land Dedmon as a rim protector for their bench.
However, Golden State could only offer the minimum salary. A good get for the Spurs, as their time to get young starts now as the heels of what many believe to be the end of Tim Duncan’s career in San Antonio looms closer.
